Great read. Examines what is lost by "corporatizing" the delivery of medicine in a "easy to understand" and entertaining style.

This book deserves all the praise that I, or anyone, can give it. It is honest and compelling. Using personal stories, Dr. Jensen puts into words emotions and frustrations that most of us can't begin to articulate. He examines the impact about the current state of corporate motivated medical care in ways that anyone can identify with. Relationship Matters strikes at the very core of what will be lost if we continue to allow the “corporate approach” to "healing". Dr. Jensen, through great story telling, reminds us that we go to the doctor because we "feel" bad and the doctor helps us "feel" better. He explains in a unique way how it is tough and emotionally perilous road for a doctor to travel, but also explains why it is a privilege to travel it with his patients. In practice, Dr. Jensen explains how he treats patient care as a simple contract that begins with “how do you feel” and then arrives at “here is what we will do, together!” He warns, via his own experience, of the dangers of reducing the “practice of medicine” to “corporate imperative” that neither the patient nor doctor trusts or believes in.

This book is informative, touching, entertaining, and therapeutic all at the same time! It has had a profound affect on everyone that I know who has read it. It's well written, a good read, easily understood, and its message is "spot on".

Do you have a good relationship with your doctor?

Dr Jensen has some wonderful stories and uses them to teach poignant lessons about the relationship between the doctor and patients in today's healthcare marketplace. The book is part biography, part social commentary, and part self-help. It is very well written and easy to digest in small doses, but also makes you think.

Do you have a good relationship with your doctor? You should. But too often insurance companies or regulations are in the way. Dr Jensen offers a hard look at how this foundation is crumbling, and it is costing us money, time, healthy living, and chasing doctors out of the market.

Love this book!!

What a great book by a very impressive doctor. I enjoyed this book immensely and the stories related brought tears to my eyes. I wish I had Dr. Jensen as my doctor. He really has his finger on the pulse of medicine and people and the way health care should be, which is not the direction it is heading. I highly recommend this book. I was sorry when I finished this book as I wanted more. Dr, Jensen - is there a part 2 in the works I hope?

However, the artwork between the covers of the latest generation of these books is no less lush. In the tradition of "Art of..." books, The Art of Wall.E documents the development of the characters and story line through a wealth of drawings that range from thumbnails to painstakingly executed paintings. It seems that in making these movies no possible detail is overlooked with the very talented folks at Pixar sweating even the smallest of them. If you enjoyed the movie, owning the book is a great way to enrich and prolong the experience.

Pastel Drawings Were Missing

[[VIDEOID:25177521]]This book carried a much darker tone due to the environment -- Earth with tons of trash. The colour palette from the movie was limited to very dark tones. This book isn't as colourful compared to other Pixar art books as a result. But that is not a bad thing.

There are a few pages right up front on visual storytelling. It provides a nice introduction into the conceptualizing of the movie, and into producing a movie where the main characters have with no dialogue.

In the first chapter "Cinematic Dictation", it talks about how storyboards helps make the movie. Included in this chapter are lots of storyboards in different styles by different artists.

"Trash Planet" is the name of the second chapter. It also happens to be the same name for the movie for more than ten years before it was changed to WALL-E. Here we have sketches, paintings and colorscripts for the trash filled environment WALL-E was set in. There are also character designs for WALL-E and EVE. It's amazing to look at these paintings and see how they have evolved into actual movie scenes.

The last chapter is called "The Axiom". It contains concept art for the spaceship, robots, interiors. There are also discarded ideas such as using alien blobs instead of humans.

Missing from this book are pastel drawings, the common ingredient found in Pixar art books. Ralph Eggleston, production designer for Finding Nemo, changed to a different style!

This is another marvelous art book for any Pixar fan.

Art of Wall-E book

I'm always a fan of the "Art of [Pixar movie]" books. They are always packed full of wonderful goodness, and this one is no exception. It really shows how much goes into just the planning phases of Wall-E. The art and articles are such fun to browse through even if you're not interested in reading the interviews, etc. Readers who are not familiar with the animation process will find it intriguing to see how the film's style progressed and developed over time. A complete hit as usual with these books.

Although lay religious life is often assumed to have been a tissue of ignorance and superstition, this study shows basic religious training to have been broadly available to laity and clergy alike. Reeves examines the nature, availability and circulation of sermon manuscripts as well as guidebooks to Christian teachings written for both clergy and literate laypeople. He shows that under the direction of a vigorous and reforming episcopate and aided by the preaching of the friars, clergy had a readily available toolkit to instruct their lay flocks.
