A good introduction to applications of Laplace transform

This book is a good introduction to theory and applications of Laplace transform. A considerable space is devoted to solution of differential equations of heat conduction and mechanical vibrations. These problems are solved in detail for many cases of both practical and theoretical importance, and additional problems are left as exercises for the reader. Electrical circuits are treated only briefly, and a chapter devoted to this topic would be useful (maybe it has been added in later editions, I don't know).

The book provides many examples and is a valuable reference in modeling work. I find it to be a very worthwhile purchase. I have some modeling work to do involving LaPlace Transforms. The book was helpful to me in determining if the method I am using will be useful in achieving my objectives.

Great book

Ronald Blythe is a wonderful writer; it seems he can't write a bad sentence. He uses only as much slang as he needs to spice up a story. My favorite chapter is the one on Jix (Joynson-Hicks), the awful man who became Home Secretary in the Twenties and tried to turn Britain into a moralistic hell. Jix reminds us that a puritan may have fine personal qualities but he ends up making other people suffer. There's also a very fine account of how Edward VIII thought he could manage to marry a twice-divorced American woman and keep his throne. Other characters: Neville Chamberlain, Sir John Reith, Winston Churchill, Stanley Baldwin, many more. A great book.

Outstanding personal viewpoint on training

“Rough Strength Files: 42 ideas on Low-Tech Strength Training” by Alex Zinchenko is a fascinating series of 42 articles Alex wrote to publish both on his blog (Roughstrengthfiles) and as an ebook.

The first few of these articles are a fascinating look into the philosophy and practice of how to train for advanced calisthenics. Figuring right up front are the examples of one arm handstand push up and the seldom done right (in Alex's opinion) one arm pushup. Alex wants the one arm pushup done with the feet together and the body level, making it much more difficult than what he claims is the common practice of having the feet spread and not holding the body level.

Then Alex moves into a series of articles and interviews on strength training in general. These are realistic oriented. He states he has no preference between bodyweight, dumb bells, kettle bells, sand bags and stone. He feel the goals of the individual does make some difference. Logan Christopher and Paul Wade, Edward of Barstarrz, Supersaiyan, Yahont) along with others are featured. There is lots of discussion of volume vs intensity vs frequency which ends up with checking the goals of the individual (strength, mass, body building, general fitness) and the status of the individual (age, health, history in regard to strength training) and recommending mixing up the practice and emphasis of volume, intensity and frequency to fit the individual.

Then Alex moves into diet discussions. Again, he is realistic and states that the end practice of the better diets is more protein, more vegetables, fewer carbs and no sugar or highly prepared foods. He does recommend a 30 day no sugar push to break the sugar addiction most of us have.

Alex closes with thoughts on carries (farmers, overhead, suitcase) and explosiveness, how to avoid wasting time, and smarter food choices.

The book is well written, very readable and written with a little humor. The center of the road realism on many topics is a breath of fresh air in the face of many other authors writing with certainty as to the benefits of one or the other side. There are over 20 references to specific YouTube videos which help explain his points. I would recommend this book to those moderately advanced in the various aspects of strength and body building and to coaches in these fields for a look at the related sports through Alex's eyes. At times his frankness and openness and bluntness are eye opening.

Alex is a self confessed strength addict and coach in the Ukraine.

This Book is a Gold Mine of Information!

Having been in the Iron Game now for over 35+ years it's refreshing to come across material that's unique and different as in Rough Strength Files! I gave this book a 5 star rating because I couldn't find any cons whatsoever and for the price this book is a gold mine of information!

Alex cuts right to the chase from page one and lays out why strength is important and how anyone can obtain it that's not afraid of a little work and commitment to consistency. The ideas and tips were unique and the results can be outstanding when consistently applied.

Alex covers pretty much everything one needs to know to obtain great strength and his methods of progressions are to be admired. There's not much that gets past my radar when it comes to exercises/movements but Alex has several exercises in his book that add a unique twist to some old school movements.

There's no BS in this book! All the material is spelled out in an easy to follow format. No matter if you're a beginner or an advanced athlete you will gain some considerable insights and ideas with Alex Zinchenko's Rough Strength Files! Hands down the best money spent this year on any e-book I have purchased. Don't hesitate to purchase this book! Thanks for your time!

TO be honest you can find all the info in this book for free on Alex's blog but the book helps as a quick reference when you don't have connectivity available

The concepts are great and Alex sticks to the exercises that will build your strength, the book mentions one of the most important aspects of calisthenics which is progression

Alex doesn't promise quick 12 weeks solution, instead he tells you the truth and makes clear that to be strong you need to be disciplined, deal with pain and get used to navigate out of your comfort zone.

To those who want to escape from the gym and and want to have a system that will help you to be strong and functional this is a must read.

Important note: This system won't help you if you are searching for a way to have a beach body, this book will help you to be strong only, real RAW strength

My wife loved it

Got it for a gift for my wife, wrote a love note on the inside cover. Kind of like a greeting card on steroids. I flipped through it and it was all pretty cool credible stuff. But most of all my wife loved it.

"LOVE Potions and Charms" is Grand!!!

I bought this book a few months ago and have since used quite a few of the spells and recipes in there. I especially love the Love Salad recipe. I make this salad and enjoy it's potency often. I have had several of my friends and coworkers comment on the aroma of it and asking me what it is whenever I eat it and they have all agreed that it is one of the best smelling (and the ones who have tried it themselves) and tasting salads they have ever tried. I had a friend of mine look through it themselves and use the Bed of Roses spell in there for her and her spouse and it completely helped to bring them closer together. He had not ever really opened up to her much prior and after she did it, he starting opening up to her more and they have become closer since. I myself have made the Chypre perfumed oil in there and have enjoyed it's sensual scent, I've even had others comment on it and they love it when I tell them where I got it from. I continue to try many of the other spells and recipes in this book and love every moment of putting my energy in to doing so. I really recomend this book for anyone looking for one that gives you a variety of "Love" ideas to try out or work on. It's one of the best books for this that I have ever found!!! =)

Serious potions and healing lotions!

The reviewer who gave this book 2 stars complained that it had taught him nothing new. So he already had the ancient Chinese recipe for Horny Goatweed wine? I was greatly impressed at the wealth of unusual information available in this book, particularly with regard to traditional aphrodisiacs (the ones that haven't been made illegal at least), their preparation and uses. It even has a useful list of suppliers in the back. I found the book witty, knowing, touching and inspiring. I even discovered a herbal cure for dry and itchy skin that really worked! I plan to roadtest some of the most intriguing love philters as soon as I have found a worthy lovemate - which, with the help of this book, I suspect won't be too long.

Charles Heckscher, Professor, Rutgers University School of Management and Labor Relations

Charles Heckscher is a Professor at Rutgers University and co-Director of the Center for the Study of Collaboration in Work and Society. His research has focused on organization change and the changing nature of employee representation. He has also worked in many industries as a practitioner and consultant on processes of organizational development. Before coming to Rutgers he worked for the Communications Workers' Union and taught Human Resources Management at the Harvard Business School. His books include The New Unionism, White-Collar Blues, Agents of Change, and The Collaborative Enterprise.

A stake through the heart of both Judaism and Christianity

Sherlock shows how Judaism and Christianity turned the Egyptian, Babylonian, and Persian myths and practices into a theology using plagiarism and deliberate falsehoods and then subverting the mythology by claiming it was a divine revelation. He chronicles how Christianity started by indoctrinating the young and the ignorant and using Martyrs, Persecutions, and apologists to propagate their virus until they could finally infect an emperor.

This began what Sherlock calls “The Brutal Theocracy of the Christian Dark Ages”:

“With all these components in place, Christianity eventually took control of the Roman Empire and they became one of the darkest and most destructive forces this earth had possibly ever witnessed. From the torture and slaughter of men, women and children, to the suppression of knowledge both ancient and contemporary, the Christians earned a reputation as being the main characters and proponents of the European Dark Ages.”

In the final part of the book, Sherlock discloses the true origins of the Judeo-Christian myths in the older testaments. He shows that this unoriginal collection of myths was derived from earlier mythologies that were available to the creator(s) of the scriptures. When one sees the correspondence between the ancient myths and belief systems and the Judeo-Christian scriptures, there can be no doubt that his claims are true!

Another Homerun

Michael Sherlock has hit another homerun. The second book in his I Am Christ series entitled The Resurrection is well written and thoroughly researched. It discredits the foundations of the Christian religion.
Christians assume their faith spread to become the world’s largest religion because it was true. Sherlock shows otherwise. Sherlock’s research indicates the real reasons for the spread of Christianity were the invention of a great product (eternal life) and the use of force.
In a similar way, Christians assume their gospels are history books. Sherlock makes a convincing case that in fact the gospel stories were taken from ancient pagan myths.
Most depressing for me was his discussion of Christian ethics. Jesus teaches “by their fruits, you will know them,” that we will recognize Christians by their actions. Sadly, more people have died in the name of Jesus than any other person in history. From Sherlock’s careful research, this is merely the tip of the iceberg.
This is a disturbing book for the two million Christians living today. Based on the fundamental problems Sherlock discloses, there is no way the Christian religion will survive as we have known it. My solution is to reinvent it. Sherlock’s solution is to reject it. From his perspective, belief systems like Christianity only close people’s minds and prevent them from growing up into authentic individuals. The two books he has written on this central theme cannot be dismissed lightly.
